Stunning European-Style Home on Pulaski Square
Abraham Solomon was the first pharmacist in Georga. He and his wife, Cecilia, built 201 and 203 West Charlton Street simultaneously, with 203 to be their primary residence. The house was a wonderful example of a European style town home. It sat situated overlooking one of Savannah’s most beautiful squares, Pulaski. Abraham Solomon was a fascinating man, manufacturing his own tonics (Solomon’s Strengthening & Invigorating Bitters) and operating Solomon’s Drugs.
Through the years, Mr. Solomon’s West Charlton Street home has been owned by only ten different families, and today stands proudly as one of the cornerstones of Pulaski Square. It is today owned by Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Manley, who consider themselves stewards of this historical treasure. As such, it is maintained to the highest standards.
One of the largest concerns of owning an older home are the hidden pitfalls associated with a one hundred and sixty year old building. In contrast, 203 West Charlton Street has been restored to a stunning condition, including new roofs, new state-of-the-art heating and cooling systems, updated plumbing and electrical, appliances, and much more. A tour of the property will immediately demonstrate the effort and care which has gone into its restoration.
